Mono-a-Mono. Or in Tina's case..UTI.

Christina has been complaining a lot recently of not feeling so great. Sore throat, tired and other very flu like symptoms, and to be honest, I took her complaints with a grain of salt. She's just started her college experience and I contributed her lack luster health as a sign that'd she been partying a little too hard. I was wrong. She was sick. Really sick.

This morning she called and told me that she felt bad enough to want to see a Dr. Knowing that she'd have a hard time finding a local Doctor who could see her in the peak of Flu season would be slim, I told her to go the emergency room to see if they'd give her a prescription for something.

An hour later I got another phone call telling me they were admitting her right away. The prognosis? Our arch nemesis, Mono. AND a severe UTI AND she's having fever related convulsions. Luckily, she had some very good friends stay by her side who until Ed and I could make the drive up.

I'll be honest, when we finally got to the hospital, she looked far more pitiful than I'd expected. Her hands and feet are so swollen, her eyes are bloodshot, her hair was completey ratnested (from convulsing on her pillow) and she's just so weak. She said even her teeth hurt. Christina is the type of person who you have to coax to tell you how she's feeling, so to watch her chest spasm and convulse and then see how much it hurt her was heartbreaking. We're not sure how long they'll keep her, the nurse on call said it could very well be for another 72 hours. (At this point, the UTI is the primary concern as it's spread to her Kidney's...something I know all too much about)

I'll try and post another update tomorrow.

The Doldrums of Familydom.

We've all been there. (Or here in our case.)

The kids go back to school, you settle back into a comfortable routine and nothing really spectular happens, you just go through the motions day in and day out. While this is actually pretty great (I love a good routine) it does not make for the most interesting blog. I've been plum out of new material.

Luckily, we have Diana's birthday fast approaching as well Halloween which will surely yield plenty of pictures and new interesting material!

But in the meantime, bear with me.

Tae Kwon Do

For the past 2 months or so, Dom has taken Tae Kwon Do classes at Summit ATA here in Morristown. He goes twice a week and just loves it! It's a family owned business with the core instructors being husband and wife and they are assisted by their two children. It's a great environment and Dom really looks forward to his classes each week! Right now he's working hard on learning and memorizing his Songham II.
